Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage matte postcard depicting 14 ballplayers in full uniform along with three gentlemen dressed in formal attire. Back indicates that credit for the production of the postcard goes to E.B. Williamson, South Bend, Indiana. The 1906 Grand Rapids club played in the Class B Central League, finishing in first place with a record of 99-52 under manager John Ganzel. Seven future Major League ballplayers took the field for the Wolverines that season: Elmer Bliss, Gene Curtis, John Ganzel, Bill Grahame, Dan Howley, Walt Miller and Ed Summers. Postcard exhibits minor corner wear with a bit of minor creasing in the upper left-hand corner along with a .5" tear along the left border. Front of postcard has some writing which has primarily faded over time, back is undivided and has been postally used with a cancellation date of August 15, 1907. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
