Item Description
6x8-1/8" original glossy photo depicting four key ballplayers from the 1940 New York Cubans Negro League baseball club. Standing from left to right are: Rogelio Linares, Horacio Martinez, Sungo Carreras and Napoleon Heredia. The 1940 edition of the Cubans finished in sixth place in the Negro National League with a record in league play of 13-25-1 under manager, Jose Fernandez. Although statistics are sparse, records indicate that Linares finished the season with a .229 batting average, one homer and 13 RBI's during league play. Martinez batted .250 with 2 homers and 13 RBI's. Carerras finished at .273 with 2 homers and 10 RBI's. Heredia batted .245 with 1 home run and 11 RBI's.
