Item Description
7-1/8x10" vintage baseball program highlighting the Indianapolis Clowns, a long-time Negro American League club. Their competition on this date was the New York Black Yankees, managed by former Negro League superstar Richard "Dick" Lundy. The Clowns were as popular at the time as the Harlem Globetrotters would become in basketball. In addition to their showmanship, the Clowns also gained a lot of notoriety for presenting future MLB Hall of Fame great, Henry Aaron during their 1952 season. Team rosters for both ball clubs are included in the centerfold. In addition, the same image that was used for an extremely rare 1952 Indianapolis postcard of Aaron appears inside this program. Paper program is extremely fragile with extensive foxing visible along with a significant tear through the front cover which has been repaired with vintage tape. Numerous small tears and creases are present throughout. Good. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
