Item Description
5-7/8x20.25" artboard features four panels of pen and ink original art by "Archie" co-creator Bob Montana. Art is for the Oct. 1, 1958 daily strip and features Betty consoling sobbing Jughead, who appears to be mourning a death in the family, lamenting "He's Been With The Family Since I Was A Baby." Last panel reveals he's talking about a broken cuckoo clock. Jughead appears in every panel, Betty appears in first and third. Montana has signed and dated last panel. Third panel has double McClure Newspaper Syndicate paste-overs. Penciled date at upper right margin. Back has photoengraver inkstamp. Vertical fold at center. Artboard has evenly aged screentone accent on cuckoo clock while screentone on Jughead's shirt has not aged much. First panel has paste-over strip w/edited name. Bottom margin has some glue staining that slightly affects art in third and fourth panels. Art o/w displays VF.
