Item Description
6x12x1" generic window box w/heavy cardboard insert w/illustrations of Dick Tracy and Dick Tracy Junior. Braces (suspenders) have text reading "Wear These Braces And Be A Member Of The Official Dick Tracy Detective Club." One suspender has shield-shaped slide w/gold luster finish and illustration of Tracy w/text "Dick Tracy Crime Stoppers." Insert also holds magnifying glass, police badge and whistle. De Luxe Product, 1940s. Box shows obvious aging w/some scattered moisture staining and surface paper flaking at bottom of window, which remains firmly affixed. Box is VG/Fine while insert shows just lt. wear and is VF. Contents are Exc. to NM. These suspenders were also sold on display cards that were sold from countertop displays. Lot includes one of two display designs, a 7.75x8x6.5" tall pressed cardboard (other design was wooden; both featured same design) featuring "Join Dick Tracy Club" text on sides w/"Dick Tracy Crime Stoppers" badge design. Display shows scattered edge/corner tip wear and is Fine overall. Both versions of this display are rare, this being the first we've offered of this version in our 53 years.
