Item Description
8X10". Glossy photo print of Buck Leonard signed in blue felt tip. Buck Leonard (1907-1997) began his Negro League career in 1933 with the Brooklyn Royal Giants, then moved to the Homestead Grays in 1934 and played with them until his retirement in 1950. First basemen Leonard was referred to as "The Black Lou Gehrig". He led the Negro Leagues in batting average in 1948 with .395 and usually either led the league in homers or finished second in homers to teammate Josh Gibson. NM. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
