Item Description
3.5x5" matte finish silver gelatin original photo c. 1930s/40s. Scoreboard image fills the photo. Reverse has been boldly signed by Dihigo who also penned the inscription above his full signature. For information on the legendary multi-HOFer Dihigo, see the previous item, a rare Almendares team photo featuring him.  The cavernous "Cerveza Tropical Stadium"  hosted its initial baseball contest during the fall of 1930. The stadium name means tropical beer, appropriate because it was adjacent to the Tropical Brewery, owned by the same businessman that owned the stadium. The photo was no doubt signed during one of Dihigo's many games at this venue. Dihigo signatures are highly sought after and rarely come up for sale. This wonderful example of his signature on a pertinent and vintage piece of baseball memorabilia is all the more desirable.  From the Richard Merkin Collection. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
