Item Description
Promotional mailer that opens to 9-3/8x12.25" w/final opened size of 18.75x25". This promotional mailer was produced by The Norwich Knitting Co. (makers of "The Mickey Mouse Sweat Shirt" and other clothing items) and was sent to the Hippodrome Theatre of Sacramento, CA during the 1930s to promote Mickey Mouse Prize Contest that included $1,000 in cash and gifts. Contest asked contestants to send in their most interesting photo of themselves wearing Mickey Mouse Sweat Shirts, noting that the context would be promoted within issues of "Mickey Mouse Magazine" and that local dealers would be running various promotions. Norwich aimed this promotion at movie theaters, showing photos of crowds of children wearing Mickey Mouse Sweat Shirts in front of theaters w/text like "How Would You Like To Pack 'Em In Like This?" and showing newspaper advertisement tie-in. Various photos of children wearing Norwich products are featured on front and back. Folded as  mailed, paper seal has been neatly opened as intended. Bottom center has 3.5" archival tape repair to split. Fine overall. First we've seen of this Norwich mailer in our 53 years.
