Item Description
1.5x1.75" w/bw photo front and text back w/player information. These were issued in matchboxes. Over 100 cards in the set and numerous photo and back varieties exist.
One of only 3 in the SGC census.
Rojo was widely regarded to be the best Cuban catcher in baseball during the heyday of the Negro Leagues. Rojo debuted for the New York Cuban Stars in 1916 and would go on to play a key role for the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants from 1920-22, the Baltimore Black Sox from 1923-26 and the New York Lincoln Giants from 1927-30. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
