Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicting 15 team members in full uniform posing in front of stadium seating. Printed text at bottom reads "Utica Ball Team, 1907, Utica, N.Y. - Manning, Utica, N.Y." Handwritten note across the image reads "Will Surprise You All Some Day By Writing." The Pent-Ups ball club finished the 1907 season w/a record of 78-54, good for a third place finish in the New York State League under Manager Charles Dooley. A staggering total of 10 ballplayers from this team would go on to play MLB, including notables - Rube Kroh and Biff Schlitzer. Image quality of the photo is Exc. w/postcard having heavy vertical crease down the center w/lt., even corner wear. Postcard back is undivided and has been postally used w/May 22, 1907 cancellation date. VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
