Item Description
3-3/8x5.3/8" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicts 16 team members (divided into two groups) posing in full uniform along w/batboy in front of wooden fence. Center of postcard reads "Winners of the Tri-State Pennant - Image of Trophy - Williamsport, PA 1907." Left edge on back indicates photo credit to A.F. Zimmermann - Williamsport, PA. The Millionaires ball club finished the 1907 season w/an astounding record of 86-38, good for a first place finish in the Independent Tri-State League under manager Harry Wolverton. An impressive total of 15 ballplayers from this team would go on to play MLB, including notables - Slim Sallee, Harry Wolverton, Walter Blair, Birdie Cree, Joe Delahanty, Rube Manning, Jimmy Sebring, Rube Vickers and Tom Walker. Postcard exhibits lt. corner wear. Divided postcard back has some lt. foxing around the edges and has been postally used w/Sept. 16, 1907 cancellation date stamp date. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
