Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicts long-time Cuban League great Jose Rodriguez during his playing career w/Almendares during the 1920s. Photographer's raised stamp in the lower left-hand corner reads "Fotografia Amistad 154 Asana." Rodriguez would play a total of 25 seasons in Cuba from 1914-1939, primarily for the Habana and Almendares ball clubs. Following his playing career, he would manage the Almendares club for another five seasons. Image quality of photo is great w/lt. foxing visible along the edges and across some areas on back. AZO stamp box on back dates the postcard to 1910-30, which is consistent w/the subject matter. Divided back remains unused and blank except for the identification of the player in pencil. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
