Item Description
4-3/8X6-7/8" vintage glossy silver gelatin photo depicts Panamanian great Pat Scantlebury, during his time w/the Cubanos baseball club. A star pitcher in the Negro Leagues throughout the 1940s for the New York Cubans, Scantlebury is best known for being the first star player from Panama to play in the US Negro Leagues. In addition to some minor league appearances during the 1950s, Pat would make it to the Major Leagues w/the Cincinnati Reds during 1956, pitching in a total of six games. Image quality of the photo is excellent. Back of photo has "July 31, 1955" date stamp and handwritten identification and photographer's notes. Exc.
