Item Description
7x10" vintage glossy photo depicts 18 ballplayers in full uniform posed in front of stadium seating, including former Negro League great Barney Brown standing in the front row, far right. The Union Laguna ball club was a prominent participant in the Mexican baseball leagues during the early 1940s, boasting future Baseball HOF members Hilton Smith and Cool Papa Bell during this time period. Photo exhibits numerous creases and surface wrinkles w/two tears along the bottom edge which have been reinforced w/tape. Top margin has slight uneven trip. Two tiny holes at lower left quarter. Back of photo includes numerous stains as well as "Barney Brown" name written in the upper left corner. Fair. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
