Item Description
6-5/8x8.5" vintage glossy photo depicts former AL Philadelphia Athletics' stars Chief Bender (Inducted into Baseball HOF in 1953) and Ira Thomas along w/longtime AL umpire Billy Quinn. Photo stamp on the back reads "International News Photo" and caption attached further details the subject matter of the image, including March 10, 1941 date. All three are in formal attire, w/Bender then the manager of the Newport minor league team in the Athletics farm system. Photo exhibits a few scattered surface wrinkles on the front and lt. shading across the right half of back. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
