Item Description
7x10" vintage silver gelatin photo depicts Almendares baseball team coach Rodolfo Fernandez along w/long-time baseball star Bobby Estalella in kitchen. Handwritten name at bottom of photo likely credits image to "Meatheus." Back of photo includes identification and handwritten photographer's notes along w/attached Spanish language paper caption describing the subject matter w/"November 26, 1950" date stamp. Fernandez was a long-time Negro League star, playing for the Cuban Stars and New York Cubans throughout the 1930s. Image quality of the photo is excellent, lower left corner has small .5" crease. Back of photo exhibits some lt. foxing throughout. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
