Item Description
7-1/8x9.5" vintage silver gelatin glossy photo depicts Cuban baseball great Pedro Formental during the 1950 season w/the Habana ball club. "Fotos RFM Habana - 1950" photographer's stamp on back. Spanish language paper caption attached to back further details the subject matter. Formental starred in the Mexican League during the mid-1940s before joining the Negro League's Memphis Red Sox in 1947 as a star hitter w/power and excellent speed. Formental also spent 13 seasons in Cuba, where he compiled a career batting average of .274. Photo exhibits a 1.5" crease at lower left corner. Image presents beautifully. VF.
