Item Description
3.25x4-5/8" vintage glossy deckled-edge snapshot photo depicts an unidentified Indianapolis Clowns baseball player in full uniform posed on baseball field. "June 1955" date printed at bottom of photo. The significance of that date cannot be overstated as the 1955 season would mark the final season of Negro American League affiliation for the Clowns before they began operating as an independent ball club in 1956. Only three years earlier, future MLB home run king Hank Aaron would star for Indianapolis for part of the 1952 season. Clarity of the image presented here is fabulous and would make a good research project for identification. Back of photo has significant remnants as once mounted and has handwritten Spanish notes at lower right. Good. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
