Item Description
8.5x11" vintage thin cardboard premium depicts 17 ballplayers posed inside baseball stadium w/two insets picturing Manager Roy Johnson and broadcaster Dave Manners. "Tulsa Litho Co." production credit at lower left. The 1941 Oilers finished in second place in the Class A-1 Texas League w/a record of 86-66. A total of 12 ballplayers from that team would go on to play MLB. Among the notables are - Roy Johnson, Eddie Waitkus, Hank Wyse, Clay Bryant, Peaches Davis, Don Johnson, Emil Kush, Whitey Platt, Marv Rickert and Rip Russell. This team photo premium was given out as a souvenir to fans attending the Aug. 29, 1941 game, which was sponsored by Wheaties, Adams Motor Company, Rogers Baking Company, King's Van & Storage Company, General Tire Company and Kome. Premium exhibits some lt. scattered staining. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
