Item Description
1.5x1.75" w/bw photo front and text back w/player information. These were issued in matchboxes. Over 100 cards in the set and numerous photo and back varieties exist. This has a blank back, no text.
Nicknamed Dr. Cyclops, Manning began his professional baseball career with the Negro League's Newark Eagles in 1938 and would spend the majority of his playing days in Newark. A member of the championship 1946 Eagles team, Max finished that season withg a record of 11-1 along with the second highest strikeouit total in the league that season. Manning also served four years of military service during World War II from 1942-45. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
