Item Description
One of only two known examples, 1.25" c. 1910 era with W&H back paper and spring pin holding what were once ribbons in the Philadelphia city colors of blue and yellow with the yellow now mostly faded to cream. The 1910 Philadelphia Athletics ball club ran away with the American League pennant, finishing the season with a record of 102-48, leaving them 14.5 games ahead of the second place New York Highlanders under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. Philadelphia would then go on to dispose of the Chicago Cubs, four games to one, to win the 1910 World Series. The Athletics were led by four HOF team members: Eddie Plank (SP), Chief Bender (SP), Eddie Collins (2B) and Frank "Home Run" Baker (3B).  The blue ribbon near the pinpoint at the button's edge has a small hole on the back which developed over the years but it does remain in one piece. The hanger is a fully three-dimensional cast white metal elephant with large incised text across his front body. The button and hanger are NM. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
