Item Description
Rare 2" with brass luster metal back and bar pin, copyrighted by E.S. The 1941 New York Yankees club was one of the strongest of all-time, finishing with an American League best record of 101-53 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy. Leading the offense was a quartet of future Baseball Hall of Famers: Phil Rizzuto (SS), Joe DiMaggio (OF), Joe Gordon (2B) and Bill Dickey (C). Leading the mound corps were HOF starters, Vernon "Lefty" Gomez and Red Ruffing. New York would go on to beat the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1941 World Series in five games. Slight loss of brass flashing on reverse and very minimal surface wear to the celluloid in reflected light. See next matching button for the Dodgers. VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
