Item Description
Unusual 2-3/16" and unusual construction of the reverse which is a dark gray tin slightly concave plate which has two cut-outs at top to hold a brass bar pin. Embossed below is the name of the maker St. Louis Button Co. The 1946 St. Louis Cardinals club finished in first place in the National League with a record of 98-58 under manager Eddie Dyer. The offense was led by a trio of future National Baseball Hall of Fame members: Stan Musial (1B), Red Schoendienst (2B) and Enos Slaughter (OF). St. Louis defeated the Boston Red Sox in an exciting seven game series to become the 1946 World's Champions. Tin has tiny surface dots of oxidation over the lower half and touch of oxidation on left end of the pin. However, the celluloid remains largely clean and glossy with just half dozen faint tiny dots widely scattered. VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
