Item Description
2.25" with concave tin back, bar pin, and maker's name at bottom of St. Louis Button Co. The 1944 St. Louis Browns were winners of the American League pennant, albeit during a weakened season as many of Major League Baseball's top stars were overseas fighting in World War II, finishing with a record of 89-65 under manager Luke Sewell. The club was led offensively by one of the best hitting shortstops in baseball history, Vern Stephens, who one day is likely to receive a Hall of Fame selection. The Browns would end up playing the Cardinals in the only all-St. Louis World Series, falling in six tough games. Celluloid proudly displays team colors and has area of faint tone between 7-8 o'clock but all else is stain free and glossy.  VF. See next two items. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
