Item Description
One of only two known, 1.25", no maker. "Rabbit" Maranville began his Hall of Fame career with the Boston Braves in 1912 and would spend the next nine seasons with them before moving on to Pittsburgh in 1921 for the next four years. Over the next few seasons, Maranville would move around quite a bit, going from Chicago to Brooklyn to St. Louis and finally back to the Braves again in 1929 before retiring in 1935 and was ultimately elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY in 1954. After his playing days were over, Maranville took on a manager job for the minor league Elmira club in 1936, the year that this commemorative pin was issued. There is a .5" light hairline scratch just below the bill of his cap that manages to catch reflected light. High gloss and Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
