Item Description
Only example known to Hake's, 3" with just a little loss of brass luster from the reverse which holds a bar pin. Dr. Muchinsky acquired this after the publication of his book so it does not appear in his "Section Y: 1961 New York Yankee Pinbacks". There is a long tradition of what are known as "salesman" buttons in the presidential campaign button field which picture the nominee of each opposing major party. We believe this was made in the same spirit and probably worn by the vendors selling the Mantle and Maris buttons stating "I'm For ... (one or the other) 60 in '61" (See two previous buttons). Like a good salesman, the vendor would not want to show his own preference but he would want to promote the possibility of a home run record in 1961. A few pinpoint raised surface dots. Glossy and VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
