Item Description
Scarce, 15/16", no maker but with union bug on the curl. The April 16, 1950 edition of the St. Louis Post Dispatch carried ad from Gelatin Desserts Member's Club Kit to attract members who received this button, a Cardinals emblem and a Musial picture. Stan Musial began his Major League baseball career with the St. Cardinals in 1941 and would remain there for his entire 22 year career, retiring in 1963. Musial had career batting average of .331 with 475 home runs and 1,951 RBI's. Musial won three National League MVP awards as well as finishing second in the MVP voting on four other occasions along with winning seven NL batting titles. "Stan the Man" was selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969. Reverse collet and metal back has irregular brown marks but the front celluloid has only the faintest traces of age tone.
