Item Description
One of only two known examples, 1.75", no maker with spring pin holding ribbon. Jackie Robinson made his Major League debut on April 15, 1947 for Branch Rickey's Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first African American ballplayer in the modern Major Leagues. Robinson would go on to win the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1947 and would follow that up with an NL MVP award two years later, in 1949. Robinson would finish his career with a .311 batting average along with 137 home runs, 734 RBI's, 947 runs scored and 197 stolen bases. Robinson was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. Reverse cello along the collet has hairline split between 1-2 o'clock laying flat and another 6-8 o'clock that makes two very tiny bulges on the rim when viewed from the front, although the presence of the ribbon makes these barely seen. Reverse cello has a few age dots around the collet but the front is stain free, although there are near microscopic dirt specks around the name "Robinson" that entered via the cello split on the back. Still overall VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
