Item Description
Only example known to Hake's, 7/8" with Whitehead & Hoag paper, very slightly worn, in use between the patent dates of April 14, 1896 and later papers that include the July 21, 1896 patent date. The 1896 Chambersburg Maroons ball club was a member of the Cumberland Valley League and finished that season in second place with a record of 22-14 under managers Billy Goeckel and Clay Henninger. Unfortunately, the ball club would disband after the 1896 season, making this likely the only surviving momento of this briefly successful team. Upper right edge has a hairline cello crack over the last six letters of the town name but it shows very little. VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
