Item Description
1.75" with concave tin covered back plus fixed horizontal bar pin. No maker name and c. 1900- 1905. This firm, founded April 1,1889 by G. Burt Read, was successful throughout most of the 20th century. Its fortunes faded with agricultural consolidation and it all ended in the 1980s when flames took down this landmark structure in Bloomington. Very graphic and detailed art of horse-drawn portable elevator used to convey harvest into a large storage shed. Pictured is farm wagon, with elevated rear wheels, emptying its contents into the elevator conveyer which terminates in a cut-away view of the shed's roof. Small slogan text is "Let The Horses Do The Work While The Men Look On." Rare farm equipment classic, one of only four known to us and in superb glossy NM condition.
