Item Description
24x28" thick molded and painted composition high relief store display depicts large Dilly Dally face above his name. Made by Old King Cole Displays Inc., who made a wide variety of exceptional Disney displays for stores and theaters during the 1930s and 1940s. This store display dates to the 1950s and was part of a series featuring "Howdy Doody" character portraits set against star bkg. used to promote the various pieces of merchandise bearing Howdy Doody's name. Tip of Dilly Dally's nose and point of hair are missing surface paint and star bkg. has corner tip wear and some scattered surface hairlines. Some surface hairlines by Dilly Dally's nose. Metal wire loop added at top star point for hanging display. This resulted in small hole being made to top. Display is evenly aged and has some expected dust soiling given its textured nature. Still Fine for display. Rare and first we've seen in our 53 years and easily one of the most impressive Howdy Doody displays we've seen.
