Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" vintage matte postcard depicting 11 ballplayers in full uniform posed in front of a wooden fence. Printed notation at bottom of photo reads "Springfield, Mass Base Ball Club 1908". The 1908 Springfield Ponies were league champions for the Class B Connecticut State League, finishing with a superb record of 84-41 under manager, Dan O'Neil. A total of six team members would go on to play Major League ball. Image quality of the photo is excellent with no significant condition issues to note. Divided postcard back remains blank and unused. AZO stamp box dates the postcard to 1904-18, which is consistent with the subject matter pictured. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
