Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" vintage glossy postcard depicting 11 ballplayers in full uniform posed in front of wooden fence on a residential street. Photographer's credit on back reads "S.H. Green, Photographer, 143 N. Broadway, New Philadelphia, O." Caption at bottom of photo reads "Tuscora B.B.C. '08" along with the photographer's notation "851". This 1908 Tuscora was not a professional baseball team but likely, instead, a local town ball or semi-pro group that would tour the local Midwest-Ohio area taking on all comers as was a common practice during this era. Divided postcard back remains blank and unused with some foxing along the edges. AZO stamp box dates the postcard to 1904-18, which is consistent with the subject matter presented. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
