Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8 vintage matte postcard depicting 17 ballplayers in full uniform along with one gentleman dressed in formal attire posed on a prison ballfield with period baseball equipment visible in the foreground. During the early part of the 20th Century, the state of Nebraska was known for its superiority in penitentiary baseball clubs, fielding some of the finest in the land. A small "x" has been hand written in front of the player in the front row, center, possibly indicating that this relic might have once belonged to him. Image quality is excellent, back of postcard is not postally cancelled but does contain a handwritten note with a Nebraska mailing address. AZO stamp box dates the postcard to 1910-1930. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
