Item Description
7.25x10" vintage matte photo depicting 27 ballplayers in full uniform along with two individuals dressed in formal attire and a batboy posed in front of stadium seating. Caption at top reads "Club Almendares - Champion 1953-54". All individuals pictured are identified below the photo based on their location in the image. Key players from this team include: Willy Miranda, Connie Marrero, Manuel Fernandez and Hector Rodriguez. This ball club won the 1953-54 Cuban Winter League title under manager Bobby Bragan. Almendares was led by Rocky Nelson, who won the league batting title (.352). Earl Rapp led the league with 51 RBI and finished tied for the lead in home runs with 10. Cliff Fannin won 13 games with a 1.45 ERA to earn MVP honors. Image quality of the photo is superb. There is some creasing visible at the bottom, back of the premium along with top/bottom margin trims. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
