Item Description
8x10" vintage glossy silver gelatin photo depicting 15 ballplayers in full uniform along with period baseball equipment present and posed in from of a commercial building. Photographer's credit at bottom of photo goes to Robinson Studio, Pontiac. All ballplayers are identified under the image in the order of their appearance in the photograph. It is quite notable that the two players farthest to the right in the back row are both African American. During the 1920s, it was highly unusual to find a mixed team made up of black and white ballplayers as it would be another 20 years before Jackie Robinson would integrate Major League Baseball. Clarity of this image is excellent, 1" piece missing from the upper left-hand corner, some staining along the left edge and a 4" crease near the left margin. Back of photo has some foxing visible, primarily along the right edge and vintage tape remnants on the upper right-hand corner. VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
