Item Description
7x9" vintage glossy photo depicting long-time Cuban baseball star, Pedro Formental dressed in formal attire and posed in front of a baseball stadium backdrop. Photographer's stamp on back reads "Fotos RFM Habana" along with paper caption descriptor written in Spanish as well as a date stamp of January 22, 1950. Formental is also identified via handwritten note on back. Pedro Formental began his professional baseball career playing in the Cuban Winter League during the 1942-43 season, where he would spend a total of 13 seasons, primarily starring for the Havana ball club. In the U.S., Formental was a power hitting outfielder for the Memphis Red Sox of the Negro League from 1947-50. Pedro also spent several summers playing in the Mexican League for Vera Cruz and San Luis. Bold and striking image with no significant condition issues to note. VF.
