Item Description
Glossy 8x10" photo shows Shirley Chisholm (1924-2005) standing in front of the US Capitol Building. Chisholm became the first African-American woman elected to the US Congress in 1968, representing New York's 12th congressional district for seven terms from 1969 to 1983. In the 1972 US presidential election, she became the first African-American candidate for a major party's nomination for President of the United States, and the first woman to run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination. Chisholm has boldly signed in blue felt tip pen at lower left. Photo shows some scattered handling wear w/faint crease at lower right corner and faint paperclip mark at upper left. VF overall. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
