Item Description
1.25" with Steiner, St. Louis back paper. Rare design and unusual to see a union bug so prominent on the front of a button. The 1930 St. Louis Cardinals won the National League pennant with a final record of 92-62 under manager Gabby Street. The Cards were led offensively by a trio of National Baseball Hall of Famers: Jim Bottomley, Chick Hafey and Frankie Frisch. The mound corps was led by HOF starters: Burleigh Grimes and Jesse Haines. St. Louis would go on to lose the 1930 World Series to the Philadelphia Athletics in six games. Center has short, thin, vertical near hairline of air under the cello just seen in reflected light as made. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
