Item Description
Each is 1.25". The text unique to each button reads: Angels, Angles-Stars, Beavers, Oaks, O'Doul's-Seals, Tacoma Tigers, Wenatchee Chiefs. All baseball teams are from the West Coast, including several from the Pacific Coast League. The San Francisco Seals button is the most interesting as it pictures/names long-time star, Lefty O'Doul, who was winding down his playing career with a minor league stint in San Francisco at that point, having fashioned a career .349 batting average in the Major Leagues, one of the top five career averages of all-time. Interestingly, Lefty still remains on the outside looking in to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Also, notable that Joe DiMaggio spent a couple of seasons with the Seals just a year or two earlier, prior to beginning his legendary HOF career with the New York Yankees. "Chiefs" has light age on edge, mostly lower right but glossy and Fine. The other six are glossy, Exc. A difficult set to complete and the only full set we've offered in our 54 years. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
