Item Description
1.75", no maker w/spring pin holding two ribbons which in turn hold enamel paint on white "1938" metal pin w/two wire fasteners on the back. The 1938 New York Yankees won the American League pennant with a final record of 99-53 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy. The offense was led by a quartet of future HOFers: Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey and Joe Gordon. The mound corps was led by a pair of future Hall of Fame starters, Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing. The Yankees would go on to sweep the Chicago Cubs in four straight games to take the 1938 World Series.
