Item Description
1.75", no maker. Spring pin holding ribbon w/brass threads joined to a white metal fob with raised image of batter at home plate w/incoming ball. There is also a 3.5" ribbon that was altered by vendor by folding up the bottom 1" and then stitching it shut so that as sold it read "World Series/New York Yankees". The seam is now open with tiny remnants of black thread and the text once hidden now shows as "VS/Brooklyn Dodgers". The 1941 New York Yankees won the American League pennant with a record of 101-53 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy. The offense was led by a quartet of future HOF'ers: Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey, Joe Gordon and Phil Rizzuto. The mound corps was led by Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing. The Yankees would go on to defeat the Brooklyn Dodgers, 4 games to 1, to win the 1941 World Series. Ribbon is aged, Fine. Button and fob are Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
