Item Description
Large 3.5", no maker with steel metal back that has large domed outer edge plus brass bar pin. The 1941 Brooklyn Dodgers won the National League pennant with a final record of 100-54 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Leo Durocher. The offense was led by a quartet of future HOF'ers: Joe Medwick, Paul Waner, Pee Wee Reese and Billy Herman. Brooklyn would go on to lose the 1941 World Series, 4 games to 1, to the powerful New York Yankees club. Most of the front background has a very faint off white tone with just a trace of tan color. On close inspection there is a slight variation line between this color and a purer white color that can be detected at the top edge between 11-2 o'clock. The variation is very subtle. Also, while nothing shows to the naked eye, in reflected light there are numerous but exceedingly light scratches largely on outer edge. The button has great gloss and is VF. Certainly an outstanding rarity among "Bums" buttons. Paul Muchinsky Collection. See following 1.25" variety.
