Item Description
1.75" no maker. Spring pin holding lightly aged ribbon, brass chain, red catalin plastic bat and a celluloid ball. This button was originally issued for and showed a pennant reading "Brooklyn Dodgers" (Muchinsky Section X-101) but here was vendor re-purposed at the time with a decal reading "St. Louis Cardinals". The 1942 St. Louis Cardinals won the National League pennant with a record of 106-48 under future National Baseball hall of Fame manager Billy Southworth. The offense was led by a pair of young outfielders who would go on to long HOF careers, Stan "The Man" Musial and Enos Slaughter. The Cardinals would go on to win the 1942 World Series against the New York Yankees in five games.  Slight wear, surface oxidation on back and some tiny edge loss to the decal but glossy and VF.
