Item Description
1.25" w/seldom seen curl text reading "Patented Oct. 21-1927 Phila. Badge Co. Phila. Pa. U.S.A."  Rare single day issue. Herb Pennock was a talented left-handed pitcher who first arrived in the Major Leagues in 1912-15 with the Philadelphia Athletics. After a few nondescript seasons there, Herb would move on to the Boston Red Sox from 1915-22 and later on to the New York Yankees powerhouse that would dominate the American League during the late 1920s and into the 1930s as those were Pennock's greatest seasons. Pennock would top the 20 win mark twice and also tallied two other seasons which saw him win 19 games, finishing with a career record of 241-162 over 22 MLB seasons along with a career ERA of 3.60. Pennock would be selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1948. Has five very light and short scratches around his ear and eye on the left. These barely show in reflected light. High gloss, Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
