Item Description
From same rare set as previous two lots and also the first example Hake's has offered. Small .75" no maker.  Tris Speaker was widely regarded as the greatest defensive center fielder during the early days of Major League Baseball as well as being one of the top average hitters of his day. Tris began his MLB career in 1907 with the American League's Boston club. Speaker would remain with the Red Sox through the 1915 season before moving on to the Cleveland Indians in 1916 and spending the next 11 seasons there before closing out his career with one season each in Washington and Philadelphia. Tris would finish with a career batting average of .345 along with 117 home runs, 1,531 RBI's, 1,882 runs scored, 436 stolen bases and an all-time record of 792 career doubles. Speaker would be selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937. Glossy, Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
