Item Description
Small .75" no maker. One of at least three different from a little known set (see next two lots) all of which are the first examples Hake's has offered. Cobb is widely regarded as one of the top 5-10 MLB players of all time, first all time with a career batting average of .366 while posting 117 home runs, 1,944 RBI's, 2,245 runs scored, 897 stolen bases and 295 triples. Cobb would play his first 22 seasons for the Detroit Tigers and his final two with the Philadelphia Athletics. Cobb was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936, one of the first five ballplayers ever inducted. Cobb has slight oxidation on collet, stain around the collet and obvious stain on the front and in reflected light there are vertical scratches over his facial area. As prominent as these are in reflected light, only one shows on the right with normal viewing. Still glossy. VG. A rare Cobb artifact. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
