Item Description
From same rare set as previous lot and also the first example Hake's has offered. Small .75" no maker. George Sisler was widely regarded as one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. Unfortunately, he toiled for some pretty weak St. Louis Browns clubs during the prime of his career but managed to stand out anyway, posting single season batting averages of .407 in 1920 and .420 in 1922. Sisler also established a Major League record for base hits in a single season with 257 in 1920 and would follow that up two years later with another near-record total of 246 in 1922. George would finish his career with a .340 batting average to go along with 102 homers and 1,178 RBI's. Sisler would be selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939. Glossy, Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
