Item Description
2.75x6-3/8" The First National Bank of Carnegie check under the account of John H. Wagner, aka Honus Wagner (1874-1955). Wagner played w/the Pittsburgh Pirates 1900-1917 and was a manager in 1917 before serving as coach 1933-1951. He was a World Series champ in 1909 and was elected to the National Baseball HOF in 1936. Check is dated April 6, 1918 (the year following his retirement as a player) and is made out to McAllister Bros. for $19.50. Check has been signed "John H. Wagner" in black ink that has aged to brown in color. Check has "PAID" cancellation holes across signature, but signature remains distinct and legible. Back has bank stamp and this strips of archival tape from previous matting/framing. Check has some lt. scattered handling wear/soiling and is Fine overall. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
