Item Description
11.75x14.5" thin artboard features pen and ink original art (w/red felt tip pen accents) for one-page "A/Gas" comic story by Alex Toth (1928-2006), a cartoonist known for his works in both comic books as well as for his various Hanna-Barbera cartoon character designs. Toth is especially noted for his masterful use of shadow, which is in full display w/the cartoon published in DRAG Cartoons #10 in 1964. Artboard features six panels, showing car racing speeding train, only to end up being run over at "Their End." Top margin has handwritten "DRAG #10 - 'A/Gas' (Train) - Pencils Only - 1 Pager - Alex Toth," all written in red felt tip pen. Circular sticker w/inked "#3" notation at upper right. Left margin has been trimmed and right margin has 1" tear just above center w/staining from tape repair and correctional fluid touch-up. Back has aged masking tape repair. Left/right margins have some small staple holes. Artboard is Fine overall, but art remains VF. From the Archives of Publisher Pete Millar.
